Like to sing or play an instrument?
The Therapeutic Recreation Department runs a music group that meets on Mondays from 2:15 to 3:15. They are looking for volunteers who enjoy music to engage the patients and join in with singing. If a volunteer plays an instrument and would like to share, that would be interesting and taken into consideration.
Last summer, a teen volunteer played the piano during the music program and suddenly one of the patients joined in. They played some duets and then the patient played some solos. The staff was pleasantly surprised to learn that the patient played the piano!
VITAS Craft Volunteers
Craft volunteers make home-sewn items such as prayer shawls, afghans, pillows, quillows, pajamas, open-in-the-back gowns and lap blankets. These crafts bring great joy to the patients and families who receive them. Crafts can be made in the volunteer's home or at the VITAS office. New craft ideas are welcome and creativity is a plus.
