Grades 9 & 10 - The International Baccalaureate MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME MODEL
The Connecticut IB Academy is a candidate school in partnership with Sunset Ridge Academy for the Middle Years Programme. These schools are pursuing authorization as IB World Schools*; schools that share a common philosophy-a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Connecticut IB Academy believes is important for our students. CIBA anticipates authorization as an IB World School for the Middle Years Programme for 2017.

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) comprises eight subject groups:
- Language Acquisition.
- Language and literature.
- Individuals and societies.
- Physical and health education.
Students take courses in seven or eight of the subject groups each year, including a world language(s). Each year, students in the MYP also engage in at least one collaboratively planned interdisciplinary unit that involves at least two subject groups. MYP students also complete a long-term project, the Personal Project, during Grade 10, where they decide what they want to learn to identify what they already know, discovering what they will need to know to complete the project and create a proposal or criteria for completing it.
CIBA, in partnership with Sunset Ridge, has developed policies to support students and their families in the Middle Years Programme. It is important that all stakeholders are familiar with and provide input into the review of these policies.
