Our Mission
The mission of the East Hartford Public Schools Physical Education Department is to ensure that all students learn the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully participate in physical activity, understand the effects physical activity has on one’s body, and make responsible choices which lead to the establishment and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle.

Wellness Education Courses
The Wellness Curriculum is a sequential program consisting of classes in Physical Education and Health Education. The physical education classes expose students to a variety of physical activities to improve personal fitness, promote fair play and cooperation. Health classes are designed to develop student's abilities to make informeddecisions relating to health issues. Classroom instruction includes the application of knowledge and skills in order to improve and maintain the health of the student. The curriculum is aligned with state and national health and physical education standards. Four years of Wellness Education are required for graduation. Credit .50 is awarded at the end of each semester for a total of 2.0 credits required for graduation.
