The Model United Nations Club provides students with the opportunity to learn about the world from different perspectives. We examine the founding of the UN and the many roles the organization plays in the world today. We also research important world issues and the impact of these issues on specific nations, regions and the global community as a whole.
Highlights of our club activities include a trip to New York City and the United Nations. In past years, we have been the welcome guests of UN delegations from Jordan, Guatemala, Zimbabwe, Japan and Thailand. Additionally, CIBA MUN participates in the World Affairs Council MUN conference hosted by the University of Hartford. The conference takes place in January on a Friday after school and a full day Saturday. Students take the part of delegates from assigned nations and they meet to debate solutions on some of the world's most pressing issues.
