Hall Sweep Warning Letter

January 26, 2010

Dear Parents, Guardians and Families:

Since September, Administration, Behavior Managers and Security have been conducting daily "Hall Sweeps" to ensure that students are attending classes on time.  On a weekly basis, EHHS administration has also been monitoring students who remain in the hallways after the arrival bell for each period, sending letters home and assigning appropriate discipline.

Effective January 26, 2010 any student that is detained two times in a "Hall Sweep" for one week will be on Out of School Suspension for the next day.  This pattern of excessive tardiness impacts the learning environment and your child's attempt at building excellence here at East Hartford High School.  After conducting over 100 "Hall Sweeps" and analyzing the data, EHHS Administration wants to emphasize the need for students to be in class on time.

Please speak with your son/daughter about the importance of punctuality and following directions.  Feel free to consult the STUDENT HANDBOOK for further explanations of the above mentioned tardiness to class and call us at 860-622-5200 if you have any questions or concerns.  You may also access the handbook and our policies online at http://www.easthartford.org/.  Click on ‘Our Schools' and then East Hartford High School to find the appropriate links.

Respectfully,

Matthew Ryan
