Welcome CIBA Parents
The Parent Advisory Council executive board welcomes you to the Connecticut IB Academy learning community. Students here are challenged by a rigorous World Class curriculum taught at a distinguished Blue Ribbon School that is ranked among the best in America by the U.S. Department of Education.
While the academic pace is brisk and faculty expectations often emulate college-level standards, dedicated and highly motivated students can and do excel here, and the rewards for our children are measurable and significant.
I.B. graduates are highly valued and aggressively sought after by the world's most prestigous institutes of higher learning because I.B. diplomas are recognized as excellent predictors of academic success at the next level. I.B. HL exams are increasingly being accepted for college transfer credits....one 2007 I.B. graduate recently received a remarkable fifteen (15) transfer credits at the University of Connecticut!
Academy parents are strongly encouraged to participate in our I.B. learning community by becoming actively involved in the Parent Advisory Council. Membership is free and CIBA parents are automatically enrolled. Our group's primary mission is to contribute to a positive academic and social experience for our students while they attend the Academy.
As fellow parents, we value your participation and invite you to join us at our monthly PAC meetings scheduled on the first Wednesday of every month during the school year. Your personal involvement in our activities strengthens the parent organization and directly benefits our Academy students. Our one-hour meetings also provide an opportunity for you to communicate directly with CIBA Principal Art Arpin who regularly attends to report on matters of interest to parents.
We encourage you to add your email address to our PAC distribution list to ensure you will receive news and reminders about student and parent activities.
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope the information provided here will answer some of your questions about the PAC and our many activities. If you are interested in learning more or would like to volunteer your time and talents on behalf of our CIBA kids, please join us at our next meeting on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the CIBA College Research Center (Room 109).
See you at CIBA!
