Graduation Requirements
Students must select a minimum of 6 credits each year.
A minimum of 22 credits is required for high school graduation, including the successful completion of:
- 4 credits in English
- 3 credits in Mathematics
- 3 credits in Social Studies,
(1 credit must be U.S. History; a .5 credit Civics class is required)
Please Note: Completion of Grade 10 Foundation of American History does not count toward the one credit requirement of U. S. History for graduation.
2 credits in Science
2 credits (4 years) in Wellness Education
1 credit in Arts/Vocational Education

Performance Standards
Standard: Students will demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and viewing.
Assessment: Students shall produce an essay that is based on readings in literature or non-fiction and is focused, organized, elaborated, and edited for standard English conventions.
Criteria: Students will demonstrate proficiency in the standard by:
- Achieving a score within bands 3 or 4 on the reading or writing CAPT assessment; or
- Achieving a score equal to bands 3 or 4 on a district performance assessment task; or
- Achieving a grade of C or above in courses which specify and include the expected level of performance on the district performance assessment as part of the course requirement.
Standard: Students can apply a range of numerical, algebraic, geometric, and statistical concepts and skills to formulate, analyze, and solve basic real world problems.
Assessment: Students will satisfactorily complete a multi-step mathematical problem, which requires demonstration of basic operations including fractions and decimals and produce a written explanation of the process.
Criteria: Students will demonstrate proficiency in the standard by:
- Achieving a score with bands 3 or 4 on the mathematics portion of the CAPT assessment; or
- Achieving a score equal to bands 3 or 4 on a district performance assessment; or
- Achieving a grade of C or above in courses which specify and include the expected level of performance on the district performance assessment as part of the course requirement.
Eligibility Rule
In order for a student to participate as a member of an athletic team, club or a school committee, a 1.7 GPA must be maintained as evidenced by the report card of the previous marking period.
Students must, also, carry 6 credits per school year, and the equivalent of 5 credits per semester unless specifically exempted by the principal. Students must also be free of the accountabilities. The following scale will be used to calculate eligibility. The letter grade as reported on the students report card is the official grade for the term.
- High Honors = 3.60 – 4.00
- General Honors = 3.00 – 3.59
- “C” Rule Eligibility = 1.70 or above
