Jeffrey A. Currey was born in East Hartford and educated in the East Hartford Public School System.  At an early age Jeff knew his life would include the arts, especially music, dance, and theatre as well as a commitment to public service.  Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Speech with a concentration in Political Science from Wagner College in New York City.  Presently, Jeff is a Legal Assistant/Office Manager for the East Hartford law firm, Nevins and Nevins LLP.

Jeff was first elected to the Board of Education in November 2009.  Jeff believes that the school system must establish and maintain a climate where youngsters and their families feel they belong and can share ownership and take advantage of the many diversified educational opportunities that are available including the core subjects and the many extra-curricular activities and clubs.  To help achieve this goal, Jeff will be working with the board and the school system to increase parental involvement and to increase the expectations of everyone involved in the education process.
